The four star Abbey Hotel Roscommon hosted their inaugural post race 'Most Stylish Lady' evening on Monday last, July 10.

The occasion was a lively mix of fashion, much fun and jazz music amid the launch of the hotel's exciting new summer cocktail menu.

Speaking to the Athlone Advertiser, event organiser Geraldine Grealy, Director of Marketing & Public Relations at the Abbey Hotel, praised the wonderful support she received from local media and influencers in helping to make the night such a great success.

"It was a fledgling idea I came up with only a couple of weeks ago. I do a little blogging as a hobby on my personal lifestyle blog 'Geri's Closet', so when I spoke to the queen of style, the eternally optimistic and gregarious Marietta Doran she gave me great encouragement.

"Marietta acted as guest judge on the night. I absolutely love style and fashion myself so I thought what better way to combine my passion for fashion as well as honouring the exquisite post ladies day races style on the night.

"I publicised this event in the best possible manner and received great support from local hair and beauty sponsors. Marietta and I had a tough choice picking the overall winner, but we selected Dee Maddock from Straffan in County Kildare for the accolade.

"We chose beautican Dee as we felt her dress and stunning gold embellished headpiece, made from recyclable nails by her milliner sister Marie Reilly, was a quirky creation that really stood out as well as embracing the sustainability ethos. Dee received a luxurious hamper and afternoon tea for first prize.

"We also had two worthy follow up winners, namely Lorna Hanmore, who won a fabulous makeover from Lizzie Loughlin, while Lisa Lavin won a voucher from milliner Ana Victoria Mulcahy," Geraldine stated.
