Following a very successful inaugural event in 2022, the South Galway Bay Music Festival returns for its second year!
This three night festival, hosted by Ballinderreen GAA Club, features music to suit all ages, takes place from July, 28 to 30 inclusive.
In the 1950s and 60s, the village of Ballinderreen in County Galway was a firm fixture on touring maps for the showbands who travelled the length and breadth of the country. The South Galway Bay Music Festival has now revived that spirit.
The festival is run by a group of energetic volunteers from Ballinderreen GAA with support from our many local sponsors. Any proceeds from the event go back into the development of our New Multipurpose Gym facility in Ballinderreen GAA grounds.
“Ballinderreen GAA club hosted the inaugural South Galway Bay Music Festival in July 2022. A leap into the unknown and huge undertaking. The music was brilliant and the craic was mighty, everyone who attended had an absolute blast and told us in no uncertain terms that we had to go again. We’ve taken that advice and will use all the knowledge and experience gained to make the south Galway bay music Festival bigger and better for 2023”
"There will be an outdoor stage with covered wooden dancefloors and bars,as all weather conditions have been taken into account to ensure you have a fantastic weekend listening to some of the country's best and most renowned bands and singers.
"Some familiar faces return from last year and some new exciting acts will also perform. It promises to be another fantastic weekend by the shores of Galway Bay. Headline acts for 2023 include The Tumbling Paddies, Mike Denver, Gerry Guthrie, Derek Ryan, Johnny Brady, Sum Craic, Sinéad Black and Olivia Douglas, plus local talent and Ballinderreen native, Michael (Mikey ) Burke, winner of the All Ireland Senior Scór 2019 title for solo singing.
"We are thrilled to welcome attendees from near and far to immerse themselves in the infectious energy of the festival, dance on the 4,200 square foot wooden dancefloor, and enjoy a full bar service. The Family Fun Day on Sunday ensures there is entertainment for all ages. With music playing until 11 pm each night, it's going to be an incredible experience not to be missed,2 organiser, Mattie Larkin, said.
