A man who broke into the home of a person with whom he had previously been in a relationship has been given 11 months detention.
DNA evidence identified Derek Fenton, 36 Lynn Heights, as the person who broke into the house at 85 Lynn Heights on September 1 last.
Gardaí were made aware of the incident and discovered that he had gained entry through a back window and had disturbed the house, taking nothing but leaving some blood behind.
Garda Kenny agreed that Mr Fenton had taken out his frustration on property within the home and said “delph and stuff” in the kitchen were damaged but that Mr Fenton had not entered other rooms.
The window had been open at the time and he was highly intoxicated.
Judge Neilan back-dated the concurrent sentence to February 19 when Mr Fenton pleaded guilty to the offence.
