Both Buccaneer’s youths playing squads tasted touch rugby league action in the capital in recent times, performing admirably in the process.

Buccaneers girls were in action first against their East Coast counterparts, their opponents leading 4-1 at half time. Buccs fought back strongly in the second half and scored twice to leave the final score 4-3 to ECT. Katie Rowan, with a brace, and Aoife Purtill scored the tries for Buccs.

Buccs boys were next on the field against Wicklow Boys and this was an exciting game with very little between the teams. Both defences were to the fore in this one, the game ending in a 3-3 draw. Dion Chitanda, John Finnan and Philip Finnan were the scorers for Buccs.

The Buccs mixed team then took on DSC Wanderers in the last game of the day. This was a very high scoring encounter. Dion, John and Philip were once again on the score sheet in the first half and Buccs trailed 4-3 at half time. DSCW surged 6-3 ahead but again Buccs fought back to 7-6 with two tries from Philip and one from John before DSCW sealed victory with two late scores.
