Assumption Road resident, Pa Berry, is the subject of this week’s DIY SOS episode which airs on RTE1 on Sunday, April 2, at 6.30pm.
A member of the fire service, Pa was critically injured in the line of duty when he attended a house fire in Mount Temple in early 2022. Out of work and looking towards a long and arduous road to recovery, the team of volunteers visited Pa’s Assumption Road home, his residence in much need of renovation to make it safe and secure for his partner Nicky and their three young children.
The couple had been patching their home together on an occasional basis since they moved in seven years ago, so the DIY SOS team came along to finish it off for them, just in time for Pa to start his long road to recovery, and for Nicky to be able to think about her own future, and not just about being Pa’s 24/7 carer.
