How Westmeath businesses can develop sustainable strategies and reduce climate emissions

Westmeath businesses have been encouraged to assess their business models in 2023 and put additional focus on sustainability and reduction in emissions where possible.

To support businesses on their sustainability journey, the Climate Ready Academy, a partnership between Skillnet Ireland and 20FIFTY Partners, is hosting a free masterclass with global sustainability expert Owen Gaffney, which will address how business can positively impact the environment and sustainability targets, while maintaining growth.

The free online Masterclass, “A New Business Model: How leading European companies are transforming their business models to drive growth and drive down their impact on climate and nature”, will be hosted by broadcaster Anton Savage and will take place on Thursday, March 23 at 1pm. The one-hour session is open to all businesses, organisations and industries from across the country, regardless of size or sector.

The Masterclass will deliver insights from Owen Gaffney, Chief Impact Officer at Nobel Prize Outreach and co-founder of Exponential Roadmap Initiative and CEO of Planetary Stewardship Consultancy. Owen will be on hand to give Irish businesses top tips on best practices to transform their business.

The free masterclass will give attendees ideas on different and innovative approaches in which companies are transforming their business models to not only drive growth but also radically reduce impact on climate and nature. Owen will also address the challenge of the climate crisis and what learnings can be applied across all businesses, including the planetary boundaries framework which he has worked on with the Stockholm Resilience Centre.

Owen Gaffney, Chief Impact Officer at Nobel Prize Outreach and co-founder of Exponential Roadmap Initiative and CEO of Planetary Stewardship Consultancy said “Business leaders have the responsibility to take charge and make a change for the better of the planet. During this Climate Ready Masterclass, I hope to explore some immediate actions that can be taken by businesses and cover innovative approaches that are easily applied to companies, big and small. Irish businesses are encouraged to make changes to reach our climate action targets for 2030, the masterclass will give tips for businesses hoping to do their bit.”

The Climate Ready Academy Masterclass on sustainable business models will take place virtually via Zoom on Thursday, 23rd March 2022, from 1pm to 2pm. Those wishing to attend the free event, can register via: https://www.climatereadyacademy.ie/masterclasses/
