National No Smoking Day is Wednesday, February 22 and to highlight all the programmes and supports available to help people stop smoking there will be an information stand in the Primary Care Centre, Athlone N37 P8P8 from 10am-4pm on the day.

What is ‘We Can Quit’?
‘We Can Quit’ is a free, evidence-based, peer-led smoking cessation programme for men and women aged 18 years and over. Delivered over 7 weekly 90 min sessions by fully qualified HSE Stop Smoking Advisors in partnership with Youth Work Ireland Midlands, ‘We Can Quit’ also offers free nicotine replacement therapy to help you stay quit for good.
During this course, you will receive support from our interactive and informative group meetings along with a comprehensive resource pack. This peer-led support makes ‘We Can Quit’ invaluable. In addition, you can also avail of one to one support sessions for as long as you need.
What will you do in the group?
Participate in the group discussions on health risks, financial issues and social aspects, which will reinforce your reasons for stopping smoking.
Have your Carbon Monoxide levels measured each week to show the health benefits of quitting.
Participants will get information on the following topics:
· Nicotine Replacement Therapy (Patches, Gum, Inhaler, Lozenge, spray etc ), and other aids available.
· Setting up a quit smoking plan & tips about how to deal with withdrawal symptoms.
· Advice on diet issues while you quit. Advice on stress management techniques.
· Plus access to FREE Nicotine Replacement Therapy.
