Number One Gun Battery Heritage Group hoping to progress conservation works on site

Requesting information with regard to a progress report on the opening of public lands at Number One Gun Battery at the most recent sitting of Athlone-Moate Municipal District, Green Party councillor, Louise Heavin, was informed by the council executive that the associated Heritage Group is currently applying for funding to progress the conservation works on site.

“Currently the site is not safe for public access and should grant funding be made available, the site will need to be closed to the public until the conservation works are fully complete. However, the walkways and river access remain open for public use,” the council executive spokesperson stated.
