Tullamore Harriers confirms details for 2023 half marathon

A sporting occasion which regularly attracts a wealth of entries from Athlone Athletics Club members and those runners from the wider Midlands region, the perennially popular Tullamore half marathon will take place on Saturday, August 26, at 10am.

With Bord na Mona as main sponsor, the event is expected to sell out in due course, intending participants encouraged to complete an online entry for this perennially popular half marathon.

“This event is classed as one of the best half marathons in the country, offering so much for runners of every standard from first timers to the highly competitive athlete.

“Last year’s race attracted hundreds of runners from all over the country as well as a large turnout of spectators. We were delighted with the huge level of positive feedback from participants who were highly complementary of the friendly environment, carnival atmosphere and the quality of the facilities available on the day.

“This race is ideally suited to anyone training for the Dublin City Marathon or simply wanting to go the distance over 13.1 miles, but if half a marathon seems too much of a stretch, there is also a relay option where teams of two can run approximately 10.5km each,” a Tullamore Harriers spokesperson, stated.

Upon conclusion of the half marathon, the prestigious Quinlan Cup will be awarded to the winning men’s team and the Phyllis Delaney Cup to the winning ladies’ team.

The course, described as “generally flat” and “undulating with some gently rolling hills along the way”, takes in a scenic route through Mucklagh, Killurin and Cloonagh, before finishing with a lap of the stadium track.
