Moate Golf Club confirms new committee at recently hosted Management AGM

Moate Golf Club recently hosted its Management AGM with the committee for the year to come being formerly confirmed.

Those elected were Men’s Captain: Mike Hiney, Hon Treasurer: Martin Ryan, Hon Secretary & P.R.O. Andy Dunne, Ladies Captain: Marie Keane, Men’s Vice-Captain: Sean Egan, Lady Vice-Captain: TBC, Men’s President: Dom Fitzpatrick, Lady President: Geraldine Coughlan, Trustees: Betty Behan, Joe Creggy, Sean Dunne (Ex Officio ), Men’s Secretary: Shane Kelly, Ladies Secretary: Mary Horan, plus committee members - George Garvey, Rory Minagh, Bert Burke, Noel Mulligan, Joan Molloy, Gareth Cassidy and Willie Smith.

Fundraising Raffle

The draw was made at the AGM recently and the winners were – 1st Gareth Cassidy (Electric Trolley ), 2nd Colm Farrell (Reserved Car Space 1 ), 3rd Rose Egan (Reserved Car Space 2 ), 4th Declan Rooney (Balbriggan GC green fees ), 5th Rose Egan (The Heath GC green fees ), 6th George Garvey (Moate GC Crested Hat ). We thank everyone for their generous support as always.

Upcoming Competitions

Week two of the weekly Club 13 hole competitions takes place until January 22 with entry €5 (plus €2 for 2s ) and re-entry €3 (plus €2 for 2’ ). Winter League qualifiers can be played any day.

The club will be publishing the full fixture lists shortly, but some of the big competition dates have been finalised. The Captain’s Drive in Scramble is on Sunday March 5. Dom Fitzpatrick’s Presidents Prize will be on June 3 and 4 with the Annual Classic closely following it from June 7 to 11. The Lady Captain’s Prize Final for Marie Keane will be on Saturday, July 8 and Mike Hiney will have his Men’s Captains Qualifier on July 15 and 16 with the Final on Saturday, July 22. Geraldine Coughlan’s Lady Presidents Prize takes place on Sunday, August 27.

Seery’s Cash & Carry Winter League

The Seery’s Cash & Carry Winter League qualifying continues. The final will be held on Sunday, March 19, and subject to confirmation/availability the first prize will be 3 Callaway Mavrik drivers. Geraldine Coughlan leads on 149 points, Nicky Grennan is next on 148 points and then we have Robert Ryan, Sam Moran and Eoin Ryan tied 3rd on 146 points. There are now 58 players with five rounds plus played and 116 who have returned cards overall. The top 60 will qualify and a league table is available on the website so you can see where you lie. Please enter on the computer to get a label with your handicap but you don’t need to put your scores on the computer afterwards.

Course Corner

All players are requested to continue raking the bunkers as well as repairing pitchmarks and divots. Please be mindful when it is soft to keep your trollies away from the greens edge and not to have everyone following the same trail.
