Man told to undergo alcohol treatment or face prison

A man has been warned that if he “jumps ship” from an alcohol treatment centre, he will end up in Cloverhill Prison.

Niall Flynn of 137 Greenpark Meadows has appeared before Judge John Neilan on a number of occasions for public order offences.

Solicitor Susan Fay asked the judge to hear his case early so he could make his way to Mountrath in County Laois to sit his electrician’s exam and informed the court that he had a place in Cuan Mhuire the following Monday.

With some degree of reluctance, Judge Neilan allowed the adjournment, saying he wants a letter in court on June 18 from Cuan Mhuire to confirm that he is attending.

Thereafter, he said he would adjourn the case until July 1 “in case he lapses”.
