A Kildare man facing charges of dangerous driving has been ordered to stay out of Westmeath.
Damien Whelan of 170 Branswood, Athy faces two counts of that charge relating to an incident at Irishtown and Summerhill, Athlone on May 27.
The court heard that it will be alleged that the 25-year-old sped off from Gardaí, weaving in and out of traffic at speed.
He told the court that he is currently disqualified from driving and had no driver’s licence to surrender.
The court heard Mr Whelan had lost an eye, and is in receipt of disability benefit.
He will appear at Athlone District Court on July 15.
