Representatives from Athlone Gymnastics club were proud participants in the recently hosted National Seres Gymnastics Team Championships which took place in the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena in Dublin.
In total, 11 of the club’s competitive gymnasts - Isla, Aoibhinn, Orla, Katie, Mya, Sive, Kate, Mia, Aoibhinn, Orlaith and Nicola attended and competed in levels three to five and WAG intermediate team events.
They represented the club with aplomb, all working and performing extremely well in a very competitive competition.
Athlone Gymnastics Club would like to thank all the coaches who helped prepare the gymnasts and support them during the weekend. To add to the excitement of the weekend, the club’s gymnasts shared the joy of Gymnastics Ireland star Rhys McClenaghan during the historic moment when he became the first ever Irish world champion on pommel horse during the apparatus finals in the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool for the 2022 World Championships.
The finals were broadcast live by RTÉ 2 and shown on the big screen of the Indoor Arena where gymnasts, coaches and fans watched the smashing final pommel routine and medal ceremony where the inspirational McClenaghan was crowned champion.
