Athlone Credit Union attended the formal launch of the new boat for the Athlone Canal Heritage committee in recent times.
The boat was sponsored by Athlone Credit Union as part of its Community Support Fund and will be used to work on canal bank enhancement and improving the general watercourse.
“The primary objective of the community support fund is to support the development and delivery of worthwhile projects to the benefit of members and the local community in the Athlone common bond area.
“We were delighted to support Athlone Canal Heritage committee’s request. They carry out such valued work along the canal banks and waterways. As a volunteer led group, we know that this sponsorship will be a welcome support and ensure that they can continue the important work they do in the community,” Michael Evans, CEO of Athlone Credit Union, stated.
