Public Expenditure Minister set to address business breakfast meeting in Sheraton Hotel

The Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Deputy Michael McGrath, will address business leaders at a pre-budget business breakfast meeting in the Sheraton Hotel Athlone on Thursday, July 7, at 7.30am.

Hosted by Athlone Chamber of Commerce and RBK Chartered Accountants, the timing of the event coincides with the expected Government publication of the Summer Economic Statement.

“The current economic climate has made it particularly difficult for business to operate in. Planning for what lies ahead has always been the cornerstone of good business decision-making and so it is important that our members hear from the Minister regarding Government plans for 2023. We have never before experienced the current level of turbulence in the business environment, with inflation spiralling and supply lines for many businesses in difficulty. We hope that this event will help set the context for the 2023 Budget and provide some stability for businesses who may have plans for expansion or further investment.

We expect a large turnout for the event, however business owners must register in advance. Registration is via links available through social media accounts of Athlone Chamber and RBK Chartered Accountants,” Athlone Chamber CEO, Gerry McInerney, stated.

Brian Feeney, Partner at RBK Chartered Accountants also commented ahead of the event, noting his anticipation as preparations for Budget 2023 progress.

“We look forward to hearing from The Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Deputy Michael McGrath, on preparations for Budget 2023 and for the opportunity to input into the budgeting process from a business perspective,” Mr Feeney asserted.
