Athlone’s Sidero named ‘Company of the Year’ at Tech Excellence Awards 2022

Athlone based Sidero, Ireland’s software, cloud and digital transformation specialist, was named ‘Company of the Year’ at the 2022 Tech Excellence Awards.

Now in its 20th year, the awards programme recognises excellence in the design, implementation and support of technology solutions and services in Ireland.

Sidero was commended for its capabilities and focus on continuous growth and development, regional jobs and investment, proven results, dedication to diversifying its organisation, client and service innovation, and key collaborations.

The company recently announced the creation of 75 jobs at its Monksland base, following an investment of €4.5 million in the business. As part of this investment, Sidero also launched a new consulting arm to reduce hiring timelines and enhance company growth and project delivery for customers.

Additionally, the company was recognised for its commitment to narrowing the technology skills gap in Ireland. With strong links to third-level institutions, Sidero has invested more than €1 million in its graduate placement and internship programme since 2018. The company also recently led the STEAM Education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Maths ) initiative in the local Ardkeenan National School to inspire children to love these subjects from a young age.

Meanwhile, Sidero was also shortlisted for the Diversity Award on the night, for its continued efforts in this crucial area. Sidero prides itself on being a culturally diverse company, with its team comprising 26 nationalities. The company is also very focused on addressing the gender imbalance in the tech industry.

“We are thrilled to have been named Company of the Year for 2022. This award is testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire Sidero team, especially in the last couple of years during such a challenging time for businesses and wider society.

“Much of our success at Sidero is down to the incredible talent and innovation on our doorstep and the opportunities that can be grasped from investment in this region. It’s an exciting time in the growth of the company and, indeed, the technology sector in Ireland. We look forward to continued growth and success from our Athlone base,” Carmel Owens, CEO, Sidero, enthused.
