Athlone Picture Framing is delighted to present ‘In Colour’, the first solo exhibition by local artist Mai Ryan.
The exhibition will formally open to the local public on Friday, June 3, from 5.30pm and will remain on display in The Village@Burgess, Lloyd's Lane, Athlone, until the end of the month.
Background
Roscommon native Mai Ryan has resided in Athlone since 1991 and has previously exhibited with The Chancery Art Gallery, Luan Gallery and Athlone Arts Group.
Mai paints mostly in acrylic, building up layers and often letting the paint take a spectacular journey of its own.
Mai’s work for this exhibition includes landscapes painted using images gathered while rambling around the local countryside.
Her striking use of colour, brush stroke and depth to transform these scenes could be described as abstract realism.
