Athlone Golf Club to host tri-annual Friends of St Hilda’s Services Golf Classic event

Athlone Golf Club will host the Friends of St Hilda’s Services Golf Classic on Friday, May 27.

A tri-annual funding event, the Golf Classic was recently launched in the surrounds of the majestic Hodson Bay course with international rugby star Jack Carty and Athlone Deputy Mayor, Cllr Aengus O’Rourke, present for the occasion.

This year, the focus of all fundraising at St Hilda’s Services is directed to the renovation of the Adult Training Centre in Grace Park Road. The Adult Training Centre provides day services to 20 adults with an intellectual disability, supporting them to participate actively in the community. The refurbishment and renovation will modernize the functionality of the building, and include an outdoor pavilion, giving all those who access the building the high quality environment they deserve.

“Our aim is to have the very best for those we serve in our community, and we are delighted to be taking the initiative with this fundraiser.

“The Golf Classic is an integral part of the St Hilda’s fundraising calendar and this year the golf classic will feature competing teams of of four persons, priced at €200 (including meal ), per entry.

“St Hilda’s Services are seeking sponsors for tees and greens and are asking companies to consider supporting this worthy cause,” Willie Brady, Golf Classic organising committee, commented.
