New dates confirmed for Athlone Musical Society’s ‘All Shook Up’ production

New dates have been confirmed for Athlone Musical Society's production of 'All Shook Up'.

Originally scheduled to take place in early Spring, the Elvis themed stage spectacle will now take place in the surrounds of the Dean Crowe Theatre over the duration of the June Bank Holiday weekend.

The opening night performance will grace the stage on Friday, June 3, with further matinee and evening shows to perform on Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5, the finale taking place on Monday, June 6.

A press statement issued by Athlone Musical Society in recent days noted the new performance dates and praised the collaboration between the committee, production team and cast which will enable 'All Shook Up' to return to the Dean Crowe Theatre stage following its 2012 performance.

'Following the recent postponement of 'All Shook Up' due to the further spread of Covid-19 and imposition of Government restrictions, the committee were busy in the background to find a way of staging the production in 2022 - and we have found a way!

'While this will be a departure from our usual schedule, the addition of matinee performances will attract families with younger children, tourists and groups of friends, and also allow options for people who wish to travel to Athlone to see the show.

'Elvis Presley’s hits permeate this mad-cap musical comedy based on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, overflowing with rock n' roll, gospel, romance and mistaken identities.

'All Shook Up' tells the story of a small-town girl with big dreams and the motorcycle-riding roustabout she falls for. Among the many hits that will have you jumping out of your blue suede shoes are, 'Love Me Tender', 'Heartbreak Hotel', 'Hound Dog', and 'It’s Now or Never'. 'All Shook Up' is guaranteed to knock your socks off!

“The Society is thankful to their production team, Director Alfie Kilduff, Musical Director Ger Madden and choreographer Jay Molyneux for helping us keep the show on the road.

"We are delighted that the Dean Crowe Theatre is available to us in June. The cast are eagerly waiting to get back into rehearsals so that this production is even bigger and better than before.

"The arts community as well as everyone, have had a difficult couple of years, and staging a show in 2022 is the boost we all need. We really hope that Athlone will come out and support our Society this June Bank Holiday weekend as we guarantee a great evening’s entertainment," Athlone Musical Society Committee Chairperson, Joan Larkin, said.
