Naughten welcomes formal decision to proceed with local graveyard extension

Local Fine Gael Councillor, John Naughten, has welcomed the decision to proceed with an extension to Kilbegley Graveyard that will see the provision of 188 new grave spaces.

“This long-awaited extension to Kilbegley Graveyard will service the Moore and Creagh areas of South Roscommon. This is something the community has been seeking for a long number of years and I welcome the fact that this can now proceed.

“Both Roscommon County Council and the graveyard committee have been involved in securing this extension and I would like to thank the landowner who facilitated this by making the land available for the extension,” Cllr Naughten stated.

The extension will also include construction of a new boundary wall and footpath access.

“I would like to thank the committee and the landowner for their patience and also my fellow councillors, in particular Cllr. John Keogh, for their support in progress this issue as well as the staff of Roscommon County Council for the time put into the extension,” Cllr Naughten concluded.
