Small Firms Association Director welcomes formal winding down of public health restrictions

Director of the Small Firms Association, Sven Spollen-Behrens, has welcomed the relaxation of emergency measures on small businesses.

“Small businesses have been severely affected by public health measures since the beginning of the pandemic, limiting their ability to trade. We are happy to see most of the restrictions now being lifted as we reach a new phase of response to the virus.

“Allowing a phased return to offices will be a great boost to many businesses who have found it difficult to transition to a remote form of work, and to those many small businesses who rely on trade from office workers.

“While this is an important milestone to have reached, many small businesses will need government support until they fully get back on their feet. The EWSS must not be abandoned straight away but must be gradually phased out over the spring and summer months, to ensure there is no cliff edge for business,” Mr Spollen-Behrens said.
