As part of the annual Discover Athlone Day, all budding photographers, amateurs and professionals, are invited to enter the Discover Athlone photography competition.
Sponsored by Fáilte Ireland, Athlone Towncentre and the Sheraton Athlone Hotel, the competition is run in association with the Midlands Photography Club with the theme of ‘Athlone and its Waterways’. All entries should be delivered to the customer service desk in Athlone Towncentre before 5pm on Friday June 5.
Prizes include a midweek break for two people in the Galway Bay Hotel, a Mud Razul treatment for two people in Sirana Urban Spa, and dinner for two in La Provence Restaurant, both in the Sheraton Athlone Hotel.
Now in its second year, the open day, which will take place on June 14, will once again provide an opportunity to raise awareness of the tourism assets of the Athlone region. The Discover Athlone initiative is part of a broader campaign to develop and promote Ireland’s Lakelands and Inland Waterways, which aims to significantly boost visitor numbers to the Lakeland regions over the next three years.
