Annual Credit Union art competition attracts swathe of local entries

The annual Athlone Credit Union art competition proved a huge success with entries from almost all schools within the local community.

This year’s theme, 'Imagine' encouraged participants to explore their thoughts, hopes and dreams, and portray them on paper or canvass.

“Art has always been a huge part of Irish life and the Credit Union art competition, now in its 38th year, is dedicated to supporting and developing the arts in Irish society. Promoting and encouraging involvement in the arts across communities is an important message we want to spread," Athlone Credit Union CEO, Michael Evans commented.

Entrants in this year’s competition were urged to reflect on the crucial role that the arts play in Irish society and how they help bind communities.

There were a number of wonderful competition entries, nine of which have been selected to progress to the next stage and one entry from Lily Class of St Hildas Special Needs School has progressed to the final.

"Well done to all our amazing entries and we look forward to another fantastic art competition in 2022. You can see all our amazing winners on our website www.athlonecreditunion.ie or on our social media pages," Mr Evans concluded.
