Critically acclaimed Appropriate to grace stage of Roscommon Arts Centre

Galway actress and playwright, Sarah-Jane Scott, brings her internationally award-winning and critically acclaimed debut play Appropriate to Roscommon Arts Centre on November 11.

Appropriate is the darkly comic tale of Sorcha, queen bee of her small West of Ireland town and proud fiancé of ex-county hurling hero Marty. She loves weddings and has been dreaming of her big day since forever and ever.

However, she has just fled her own reception. Has she gone mad? Or is this the first moment of clarity she has had in years? Perched on the edge of her ‘perfectly planned’ life, Sorcha is pure ragin’ at the dawning reality that she has never really listened to herself. Can she ever go back?

Appropriate premiered at the Dublin Fringe Festival in 2018 to critical acclaimed and an award nomination. After being remounted in Bewley’s Café Theatre in 2019, Sarah-Jane Scott self-produced her Culture Ireland supported Edinburgh Fringe run in 2019; where it once again received critical acclaim and was awarded a Lustrum Award for Excellence.

Guna Nua Theatre and Jill Murray produced a tour of Appropriate to New York in January 2020 for Origin Theatre’s first Irish Festival. The run at The New York Irish Centre sold out and Sarah-Jane was awarded the Bairbre Dowling Spirit of The Festival Award on the closing evening.

This autumn Appropriate tours to Sligo, Donegal, Mayo, Roscommon, Galway and Limerick.

“Engaging, witty and with shades of delicious darkness” … “Sharp…warm and humorous”.

If you are looking for the perfect girl’s night out, then Appropriate is just the ticket.

Tickets are €18/16 and are on sale now from www.roscommonartscentre.ie and from box office on 09066 25824.
