An Our Lady’s Bower student has received a prized accolade at the Texaco children’s art competition, the results for which were revealed this week.
Amy Zhao (16 ) was awarded special merit status for her entry and it is not the first occasion on which the talented artist’s work has been recognised by judges of the popular annual competition.
Amy previously won first prize in the 12-13 years age category of the 2017 competition, second prize in last year’s 14-15 years age category and a special merit award in 2018.
The Texaco children’s art competition is popularly regarded as the longest-running sponsorship in the history of arts sponsoring in Ireland, with an unbroken history that dates back to the very first Competition held in 1955.
This year, as has been the case throughout its life, it has been a platform on which young artists from Westmeath have had their talents recognised and their creativity commended.
