Roscommon Arts Centre announce autumn season programme of events

Live performances are back at Roscommon Arts Centre from September with a select programme of music, literary events and theatre in the pipeline to see you through the dark evenings.

While the gallery space at the centre has been open since May with exhibitions happening therein, the performance programme is only now getting back underway as the centre looks forward to re-opening and welcoming audiences back to the venue.

September 1 sees the launch of the autumn/winter programme with a much anticipated new Music Network collaboration featuring vocalist Iarla Ó Lionáird, harpist and sound artist Úna Monaghan, and cellist Kevin Murphy.

Renowned vocalist and member of supergroup The Gloaming, Iarla Ó Lionáird is one of Ireland’s most distinctive voices. A master of the Sean Nós singing tradition, his willingness to embrace and develop new ideas while guiding songs along gorgeous musical pathways distinguishes him as a true pioneer.

Úna Monaghan is a highly respected harper and sound artist, who mines her degree in astrophysics for musical inspiration and constantly challenges the boundaries of her instrument using electronic technologies.

Slow Moving Clouds’ cellist Kevin Murphy is a skilled collaborator who has been the inspiration behind many imaginative projects, including Teac Damhsa’s “Swan Lake” which wowed audience at the arts centre in 2018, will join Monaghan and Ó Lionáird in what promises to be a truly memorable series of performances.

Music Network has commissioned the trio to write a new work collectively which will be premiered as part of the concert programme. Under current restrictions, capacity is very limited and so early/advance booking is highly recommended.

Last summer, the arts centre introduced a number of new protocols to ensure the safety of patrons attending live events which were well received by the public and these will continue to be utilised for the foreseeable future at the centre.

Booking is now available on www.roscommonartscentre.ie or via telephone at 0906 625824.
