Local Independent Councillor, Jamie Moran, has expressed his anger and frustration with the large volume of waste materials which was illegally dumped on the road behind the ESB at Garrycastle in recent times.
“Locally known as the Molly Conway road, it is appalling to witness the sheer volume of illegal dumping on this site. From the amount of rubbish illegally disposed of in this location it is clear that this is not just the work of one individual.
“It is truly terrible to think individuals would go into other areas of our town and illegally dump their waste and my intention is to raise this issue with the local authority Town Engineer and the Director of Services.
“I am asking all individuals who use this area to be vigilant in this regard. There is the possibility of erecting a gate or a stile at this location to act as a dumping deterrent.
“I am aware that many individuals walk in this area as it provides access towards the greenway. It is ultimately not fair for all those living in the area to have to view such an unseemly sight.
“As stated, I will speak with the Town Engineer and seek to rectify the issue as a matter of urgent necessity. If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to contact me,” Cllr Moran asserted.
