An international flavour as Mount Temple switch on festive lights

Mount Temple native and lead singer with New York based band, Maclean Avenue, Padraig Allen, will host a live concert on Saturday night to formally launch the switching on of the progressive community’s Christmas Lights for 2020.

Padraig and his band, who entertain their numerous Facebook followers from across the US each Thursday and Saturday night, have kindly agreed to do a live link between both locations and appropriately the show will honour frontline workers.

Certain to be an illuminating experience, the virtual event is expected to be viewed by the community diaspora who will be unable to return home for the festive period.

“I am truly looking forward to this online event and it will provide an opportunity for those from our community who will not be able to return home this year for Christmas to log on and enjoy the musical show.

“We have a host of talented musicians and singers from the Mount Temple area performing during the occasion with links from both Baylin and Mount Temple National Schools,” Tom Daly, Chairman of the Mount Temple Christmas Lights committee, asserted.

Cllr. Frankie Keena stated that the festive lighting display in Mount Temple had been extended once again this year thanks to funding from Westmeath County Council.

“We have a marvellous group of volunteers involved in the erection of these Christmas lights under the guidance of our Chairman, Tom Daly.

“The Council has also given financial support for Christmas lights in Baylin, Glasson, Moate, Tang, Ballinahown, Fardrum and Castledaly where volunteers are busy decorating their areas for the festive season.

“We encourage everyone to link into the Mount Temple Christmas Lights Facebook Page on Saturday next at 8pm and join us for an excellent evening of entertainment,” Cllr Keena concluded.
