The Fr Gerry Hipwell memorial cycle will take place on Saturday May 2 at the Carmelite Grounds, Moate.
The day begins with a parachute jump into the grounds. There will also be an army and air corps display. A great day of interesting activities has been organised, very suitable for a family afternoon out.
Registration commences at noon and the actual fun cycle starts from the Carmelite Church. Mick Hipwell, a brother of the late Fr Hipwell, and a former Irish international rugby player will officially start the race. Mick was awarded 12 international caps playing in the number eight jersey.
T-shirts, face painting, and other activities will be available on the day. The parachute jump taking place at 1pm prior to the start of the fun cycle. To facilitate young cyclists, there are three routes on the day, a 4km, 10km, and 14km cycle so no one feels under pressure. To get involved in this fun cycle you need to register on the day.
