Athlone Community College student to release debut song

Fresh from his contribution to the 'United As One' music project, Athlone Community College student, Jack Tiernan releases his inaugural single, 'It's OK' on Sunday, May 10.

With all funds raised from the streaming of the song being afforded to Pieta House, Jack is hoping that the mental health charity receives a finance boost following cancellation of the annual 'Darkness Into Light' event due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recorded courtesy of Michael O'Dowd in Lakeland Studios, the songs details Jack's personal mental health experiences.

"The song is true to my own personal experiences with regard to mental health. Through writing and singing music, I find my escape and it allows me to relay my feelings.

"I have written six or seven songs to date and the more I played 'It's OK' to family and friends the realisation was that this would be my first single to release," Jack remarked.

'It's OK' will be available to download from Sunday on iTunes, Spotify and Soundcloud.

With the aim of releasing further self-penned songs this calendar year and beyond, Athlone can boast yet another singer/songwriting talent!
