In due recognition of their rugby coaching and development contributions, Connacht Rugby made worthy presentations to Buccaneers Rugby Football Club and Marist College, Athlone, at a well attended function in The Bounty in recent times.
Joey Gorham, Domestic Rugby Manager, Connacht Rugby, was present to make such ‘Player Development’ awards to the club and the school in recognition of their work in coaching and developing both Robbie Henshaw and Jack Carty, who not only went on to become Connacht stalwarts but have also have played for Ireland at the highest level.
Mr. Gorham stated that Connacht is the only province recognising the input of club and school coaches along the playing pathway from underage level through to international standard and indeed in the case of Robbie playing for the British and Irish Lions.
The presentations were made to Buccaneers President, Patrick O’Meara and Marist College coach/manager Michael Loftus.
