You want a flake with that?

Glenroe native Mary McEvoy stars in Cecelia Ahern’s first play Mrs Whippy at Roscommon Arts Centre on Tuesday April 28.

Mrs Whippy promises to be a moving, heart-warming, and funny piece. Emelda O’Grady is a frazzled 46-year-old woman dealing with five difficult sons, an ending marriage and a new job. The soothing sounds of a Mr Whippy van arrive at just the right time for Emelda, only now it’s not just the ice-cream that is her only true friend. Cecelia Ahern mixes laughter with tears in equal measure to create this humourous portrait of a woman finding her own place in the world. And always remember: The best revenge is finding happiness again.  A limited number of seats are available and early booking is advised.

If you can’t make it to see Mrs Whippy then come see two other great stars of the small screen next month. Brian Murray and Una Crawford O’Brien (Fair City’s Bob and Renee ) star in Love Letters at Ballinameen Community Centre, Roscommon on Tuesday May 19. This production is part of Roscommon Arts Centre’s InsideOut programme bringing events from inside the centre outside to venues around the county. Love Letters chronicles the relationship between Andy and Melissa solely through their correspondence.

A relationship which takes them  funny friendship and ill-fated romance takes them from childhood through adolescence, maturity and into middle age. A smash hit both off and on Broadway, Love Letters captures Andy and Melissa with a precision of detail and depth of feeling. Love Letters is funny, compelling, sad, poignant, and will prove to be an exhilarating and touching night of theatre that will stay in the memory long after the performance ends.
