All new bigger and better Renault Clio in the autumn

The all new fifth generation Clio will go on sale here this autumn. In the nearly three decades since it first went on sale, the Clio has become Renault’s best-selling model worldwide, with fifteen million examples finding homes and the Clio’s popularity shows no signs of slowing down, having proved to be Europe’s most popular B segment model since 2013.

More modern and athletic, the all-new Clio has a totally refreshed exterior combined with revolutionary interior design. It draws on this rich heritage and builds on the strengths of each of the four previous generations. Designed according to the “Evolution and Revolution” principle, Renault claims that the All-New Clio rewrites the rule book with more mature body styling and an entirely revamped interior.

Underpinning the All-New Clio is the strong and scalable CMF-B platform, which promises to deliver improvements in space - more interior and boot space while having more compact exterior dimensions. There are also many other improvements in safety, technology as well as weight savings of about 50kg.

There’s also a new range of petrol and diesel engines, plus the debut of a new E-TECH petrol-electric hybrid option. And inspired directly by Renault Sport, a new R.S. line trim with a sportier look, including F1 blade and honeycomb grille will also arrive later.

Crucially, the all new Clio spearheads Renault’s ‘Drive the Future (2017-2022 )’ plan presented in autumn 2017, which featured three key objectives.

They are, ‘Electric’ - Groupe Renault will offer 12 electrified models in its range by 2022. The all new Clio will be the first next year (2020 ), getting an E-Tech hybrid engine based on technology developed by Renault.

Second, is ‘Connected’ - the company is targeting 100 percent connected vehicles in its key markets. The all new Clio perfectly illustrates this momentum with its new connected multimedia system.

Third, is ‘Autonomous’ - Renault will market fifteen models equipped with autonomous driving technologies. The all new Clio will be a pioneer in this respect, making autonomous driver assistance systems widely available on a small car.
