The Venue set to host noted comic Karl Spain

The Venue Athlone is the ultimate late night entertainment bar with noted Irish comedian Karl Spain the latest act set to perform in Athlone’s Comedy Club.

Recent star of RTE’s ‘Operation Transformation’, Karl is probably best known in Ireland for his 2005 RTE TV series ‘Karl Spain Wants A Woman’. It was a huge success, as Spain found himself a woman and he is still with her fourteen years later but that’s more hostage situation than a success story.

This Limerick native has been delighting comedy audiences across the country and beyond for years with his razor sharp wit and sense of mischief. He has featured in many Irish TV shows, played at loads of festivals, hosted shows for the best comedians in the world and he even wrote a panto or two!

Stephen Ryan, who has been announced as Karl’s support act, was the winner of the 2016 Forbidden Fruit Comedy competition, a finalist in the 2016 Irish Comedian of the Year competition and a two time finalist in the prestigious Chortle Student Comedy competition. This Limerick comedian has performed at numerous festivals throughout Ireland and the UK including Edinburgh, Latitude, Forbidden Fruit, TedFest and Vodafone comedy Carnival and is a regular headliner on the Irish comedy circuit.

Karl Spain, plus special guest Stephen Ryan, are due to take the stage tonight, Thursday, June 27, at 8.15pm in The Venue Athlone. Tickets can be purchased on ticketstop.ie and in The Prince of Wales Hotel.
