National Learning Network in Athlone hosted a recent open day to brief the public with regard to the wide range of flexible training courses and support services that they provide for people who need specialist support. The ETB courses and HSE programmes that are provided offer recognised QQI qualifications alongside uncertified wellbeing modules.
Speaking following the open day, Town Mayor Frankie Keena acknowledged the facilities available free of charge to members of the local community.
“It was great to meet with management, staff, course participants and also to witness firsthand the excellent comfortable training facilities that are available to the students right in the heart of Athlone. The wide range of courses that are on offer are available free of charge to people who avail of job seekers, unemployed, illness or disability allowance and who need extra support.
“It is important to note that these courses are tailored to each student’s needs, to help them build confidence while obtaining practical job seeking skills which will support them to get a job or go on to further training,” Cllr. Keena commented.
Complimenting the work of NLN Manager, Elizabeth White, and her dedicated staff, the Town Mayor noted the enthusiasm shown by the present student body, a strong indicator on how informative and relevant the courses provided have become.
“In this regard, I would invite relevant personnel to call into these amazing training centres at Belhavel and Blyry and to have a chat with Elizabeth on their requirements,” Cllr. Keena concluded.
