Local Independent Councillor, Michael O’Brien, has welcomed the decision to hold the local election count for the four electoral areas of Westmeath in Moate Community Hall.
“It’s the perfect location for the count. Moate Community Hall is one of the biggest halls in the country, a tremendous facility. There’s ample parking and facilities in the town to cater for the big numbers that will be in attendance on Saturday, May 25,” Cllr. O’Brien remarked.
The Independent Councillor noted that it is the first time in which the election count will be held in Moate.
“As the local Councillor, I am delighted with the news, as it’s good to see the venue moved around the county. Moate is the third biggest town in Westmeath with easy access just off the motorway. It’s a good venue and it will be good for business in the town. I would like to thank Billy Coughlan, Corporate Services, Westmeath County Council, for his work in securing the venue,” Cllr. O’Brien concluded.
