Luan Gallery is delighted to introduce Curator Rayne Booth for the autumn instalment of an ‘Artists Talk’ with artists Eoin Francis McCormack and Susanne Wawra. This event will take place on Saturday, August 25 at 2pm.
Join Rayne Booth and artists Eoin Francis McCormack and Susanne Wawra for an ‘Artists Talk’ on their current exhibitions ‘If Not For You’ and ‘Living in a Bubble’. Rayne Booth is a programme curator at Temple Bar Gallery & Studios and a founder and director of Dublin Gallery map and Dublin Gallery Weekend.
Speaking ahead of the event, Cultural Assistant Emma King said, “this is an ideal opportunity for anyone who is interested in the work of Eoin and Susanne to meet the artists and join in on a discussion about their work. To gain a further understanding of the themes and ideas of the artwork and learn of the different techniques and methods the artists use such as how Eoin makes his own paint or how Susanne transfers images onto patterned bedclothes. This is a great opportunity to ask the artists any lingering questions a person may have about the work presented to them. The artist’s discussion will take place in a relaxed setting here in the Luan Gallery and everyone is welcome to attend.”
Both Eoin and Susanne bring a new style of painting and mixed media to contemporary art, constructing meaning from texture, colour, print and paint. The artist’s treatment of colours, themes, layers and playfulness of textures create an atmosphere within the rooms they are displayed in.
Susanne’s work acts as an autobiography of her life and demonstrates what it was like growing up in East Germany before the fall of the wall, while Eoin`s work depicts the hard work and labour that goes into the making of art. He explores the notion of the artist as a craftsperson. The exploration of Eoin’s work ethic and Susanne’s childhood history creates plenty of food for thought to be discussed in the upcoming artists talk with Curator Rayne Booth.
This talk will take place in the Luan Gallery on Saturday, August 25 at 2pm.
No booking is required but places are limited.
This event is open to the public, free of charge, with tea and coffee served.
