Tough task ahead for Westmeath against Armagh

Westmeath face a demanding task against Armagh in round one of the All Ireland SFC qualifiers at TEG Cusack Park on Saturday evening, with throw-in at 7pm.

Following a disappointing Leinster SFC quarter-final loss against Laois, Colin Kelly's team will be hoping to respond on home turf.

Injuries have impacted Westmeath hugely recently and a depleted team started well in the Laois game before John Sugrue's outfit — inspired by a Paul Kingston hat-trick — seized control.

Westmeath just could not recover and now face an Armagh side that won at the midlands venue in last year's qualifier and in Division Three of the Allianz Football League this spring.

Kieran McGeeney's Armagh were beaten 0-12 to 0-7 in the Ulster Senior Football Championship by Fermanagh, who subsequently overcame Monaghan to reach a provincial decider.
