The Mayo League warmed up for their upcoming Oscar Traynor Trophy meeting with the Wexford League on Sunday afternoon with a 4-2 loss to Sligo Rovers in a friendly game last Saturday. Brendan Kenny's outfit trailed 3-0 early on before Colm Nevin slotted home a penalty and Phil Keegan scored the last goal of the game in an encouraging performance for Kenny against the League of Ireland outfit.

Ballina Town moved clear at the top of the Divison One table this week with a victory against Fahy Rovers while Manulla had the night off.
Westport United got their season back to winning ways in the night’s first game, moving off the foot of the table at the same time with a 7-3 win over Straide & Foxford United. A strong second-half from the multiple time champions ensured they picked up all three points and kept Straide’s poor run of form going. A David Cameron hat-trick and doubles from Vinny O’Malley and Anthony McCrea saw Westport pick up the win, while Micheal Smyth, Brian Joyce, and Brendan McHugh hit the net for S&F.

Ballina Town and Manulla sit top of division one of the Masters League after an entertaining night in Solar 21 Park on Wednesday last. The night started with a rip roaring contest between local rivals Westport United and Fahy Rovers. United were ahead 1-0 at the break but found themselves 3-2 down midway through the second period. Late goals secured a 4-3 victory. David Cameron and Vinnie O’Malley each hit a double to give Westport their first win of the season. Tom Gill, Colin Napier and Guillame Vaidi hit the goals for Rovers.

Castlebar Celtic returned to top spot in the Masters League division one on Wednesday night last following a dominant win over Fahy Rovers with Manulla and Ballina also impressing in victory. Manulla opened the evening still smarting from their round three defeat to Srtaide & Foxford United and took their anger out on Ballyhaunis Town. Five goals for Dessie Campbell, a hat-trick from Dermot McNicholas, including a brilliantly executed chip from the edge of the penalty area, and a further goal from Roger Clarke saw the blues run out 9-1 winners. John Guilfoyle grabbed Ballyhaunis only goal of the night.
