‘Mature Vicky Pollard’ jailed for having over €1,600 worth of drugs for sale

A 45-year-old mother of two, who has been using cannabis for more than 30 years and was described by Judge Mary Devins as being a “mature Vicky Pollard”, was sentenced to jail for the unlawful possession of €1,699 worth of cannabis for the purpose of selling or supplying the drug to others.

Preferred route selected for Ballyhaunis bypass

The preferred route for the N60/N83 Ballyhaunis outer bypass went on display earlier this week in the town. The chosen route for the bypass is a variation of Route C which was put on display earlier as one of five possible routes and was chosen as the most appropriate one following engineering, environmental, human, and economic assessments of each route option and a review of submissions received from the public on the routes. The designers of the route had to make a slight variation to the route to deal with concerns from the public and from environmental concerns following their investigations.

Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, Michael Kitt TD officially opened the Mayo bundle No 1 Group Water Schemes Project this week and announced a further €12 million for the county for the upgrade of water schemes.
