Further period of remand for Castlebar murder suspect

Seamus Marrinan, Blackfort, Castlebar who was remanded at a special sitting of Castlebar District Court for the murder of his mother in the family home last week was further remanded in the custody of the Central Mental Hospital at Castlebar District Court this week.

Westport youth initiatives

A provision of €20,000 was allocated in Westport Town Council’s budget for youth initiatives. €10,000 is to go towards the Cove youth café while other initiatives to benefit are a teenfit programme at Westport Leisure Park, the Covey Club at Westport Leisure Park, a festival of sport which will take place on August 23, and the Scout Thing a Ling.
