Reduction in Ceide Fields hours a concern

Sinn Féin councillor Rose Conway-Walsh told her fellow county councillors at their monthly meeting on Monday that the decision to reduce visiting hours to the Ceide Fields is a concern and put forward a notice of motion, alongside Sinn Féin councillor Gerry Murray, to write to the OPW requesting them to reverse the cutbacks they have imposed on the Ceide Fields Visitor Centre.

As Shona Just (16) returns to school this week she will find that simple things such as mixing with friends, socialising, and playing sports are proving more difficult. Having been diagnosed with juvenile arthritis and lupus since she was 10 years old Shona continues to be in a lot of pain, taking steroids and receiving intensive treatment for her condition.

A Polish woman who displayed an insurance disc not belonging to her vehicle, and has no insurance of her own, was disqualified from driving for two years and convicted and fined a total of €1,000 at Castlebar District Court this week.

Medical misadventure ruling in hospital death

The husband of 38-year-old woman who died after giving birth to their second child told reporters outside the steps of Castlebar Court House last Monday, “Two years ago was supposed to be Evelyn’s day, but this is Evelyn’s real day. The last two years have been difficult but we knew what happened and that eventually the truth would come out.” Mr Padraig Flanagan was speaking after the coroner’s inquest into the death of his wife Evelyn Flanagan (38) of Hollyhill, Ballyheane, Castlebar, on October 19, 2007 found that the cause of her death was “medical misadventure” following evidence from two independent witness from the UK, which was given at the inquest.
