Mulranny playground plans moving along
Plans for the new playground in Mulranny is moving along the elected members of the West Mayo Municipal District were told at their January meeting which took place this week. The councillors were informed that a site for the playground had been donated by a local family and that the design works had been completed on the project, which has gone to tender. The site will now be leased to Mulranny Community Futures who will then be able to for funding for the project and that will come before the members for approval at their next meeting.

The local acute hospital system remains under "severe pressure", the like of which it has never experienced before, Tony Canavan, the chief executive of the Saolta University Health Care Group, which runs the seven public hospitals in the west and north-west of the country, said this week. There are more people hospitalised now with Covid-19 than at any other time during the pandemic.
