National sailing weekend

On the weekend of 23/24 June, over 60 sailing clubs and training centres nationwide will open their doors to take part in Sail Spree – an initiative developed by the Irish Sailing Association (ISA) to encourage people of all ages out on to the water to experience the thrill of water based activities.

Mayo North East LEADER Partnership Company and Mayo Sports Partnership in association with Mayo County Development Board, Mayo Mental Health Association, Connacht Rugby (IRFU), the FAI, Mayo GAA, HSE , and the Department of Social Protection will deliver Goal to Work in Ballyhaunis this September. Places will be limited to 12 trainee coaches. Islandeady Summer Festival

Plans are at an advanced stage for the 2012 summer festival in Islandeady, which proved to be a great success last year and will take place over the August bank holiday weekend (August 3 to 5) Celebrations will commence on Friday evening with a family evening and barbecue at the Key West. Saturday morning there will be a fun walk in the centre of the parish, a heritage day in the afternoon at Jack’s Cottage followed by a table quiz in the Halfway House on Saturday night. Sunday morning at 11am mass will be celebrated in the graveyard, followed by boat trips on the beautiful Bilberry Lake and Sunday afternoon there will be a big family sports day at the GAA pitch (fun for all the family). To close the weekend there will be a Barn Dance held in Jacks Cottage.
