Fri, Jan 17, 2014
The company was formed in 1984 by two brothers, John and Kevin McCormack. Their first premises was on Mail Coach Road in Sligo where they began selling quality new and used vehicles. In 1986 the current site in Carraroe, Sligo, was acquired and they continued to develop the business. Since then, the company has moved from strength to strength. The latest news in the McCormack group is the appointment of Mayo man Paul Byrne, from Knock, to sales manager at the Carraroe outlet. Paul has an extensive knowledge of the motor industry, having started his sales career in residential and client representation marketing for seven years before moving to the motor industry in 2006, where he started in Hi-Way Services Ford in Tuam, Galway. He developed his skills and knowledge, and was promoted to senior sales executive in 2008, and later to become sales manager in 2010. Paul focuses on his ability to deliver a quality customer service experience and welcomes customers past and present to the Opel dealership in Sligo. He said about the business, “We have a strong new team in place here, Mary and Lorraine are on the front desk to answer any questions you may have, we have also appointed a new sales executive, Ronan Marren, who is getting on very successfully. We have excellent offers on new and used vehicles at the moment, offers that will not be beaten. We are expanding our client base every month, and sales of new cars have accelerated since the new 141 registration. We are currently in search of 1.3/ 1.7 diesel five-door Astras. Anyone who has these vehicles, we welcome with open arms. I envisage big changes in 2014, and endeavour to deliver the highest level of customer service and satisfaction to all our customers. A big thank you and Happy New Year to all those who supported us in 2013 and look forward to working with you all in 2014.” The showroom itself is still located on the original site in Carraroe, Sligo, just outside the town adjacent to the busy N4 motorway. The site is just an acre in total with a dedicated car showroom of 5,200 square foot. There is more than adequate space in the extensive showroom to accommodate up to eight vehicles. The two valeting bays, one wet, one dry, are used to bring up the vehicles to showroom condition. There is a busy fuel service station and shop also on the site operated by McCormack's Garages (Sligo) Ltd.

Fri, Jan 03, 2014
I rediscovered the reality of power and excitement after getting behind the wheel of the new Audi RS 6 Avant. It took just 3.9 seconds to dispel any doubt that its ultra-efficient new downsized V8 TFSI engine had compromised on muscle for the sake of miles-per-gallon.
The latest super Avant will firmly cement its RS credentials by outrunning its mighty V10-powered predecessor with an exceptional sub-four-second 0-62mph sprint time. At the same time its smaller displacement and cylinder-on-demand technology will make 28.8mpg economy potential a reality.
