Keith Revins’ tyre outlet in Mayo and Roscommon is one of the first in the country to be granted a licence by the Irish Tyre Industry Association under its new self regulation scheme to bring improved standards, service and safety into the tyre trade. To be granted a licence Keith Revins’ business has had to comply with strict licensing criteria which includes the independent accreditation of staff skills. Licensees must also declare that they do not sell second hand, part worn, tyres.
Motorists now have a clear visible sign to help them choose a tyre retailer who places safety at the forefront of service. Using a licensed outlet will mean they have the peace of mind to know they are choosing a tyre expert who has experienced, skilled, staff and is committed to working to industry best practise.
The issue of licenses by the ITIA is a groundbreaking development for the tyre industry. It is the first time that standards have been introduced to the industry and is in direct response to a mandate from ITIA members to improve safety in the industry. Kevin Farrell (president ) says: “Our members have been quick to support the licensing scheme. As reputable traders they see the value in being able to let motorists know how serious they are about providing an expert service with safety as their focus.”
All ITIA members offer free tyre safety checks to help motorists get the most out of their tyres. Motorists can call into their local ITIA member today and get their tyres checked ... it could save their life.
