Garbo's live music and party venue at Mayo Leisure Point, Castlebar, is kickstarting 2018 with an exciting line-up of upcoming live music gigs and entertainment acts. Things will kick off on Friday, February 9, with Jailbird a four piece Aussie/Irish hard rock band. The four members produce a unique, dynamic, energetic, and explosive sound defining the new generation of hard rock. Go along and hear Jailbirds play a set including songs from their EP Break the Silence some great rock covers.

The Music of Mayo - A Musical Heritage Residency at the Linenhall Arts Centre

The traditional music heritage of Mayo is at the centre of an exciting three-month artist residency at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar this winter. Led by traditional musician and composer Emer Mayock, the residency celebrates traditional music in Mayo and in particular the compositions of Mayo musicians and singers from the past, present and future. The residency will result in a unique digital resource of notated songs and tunes, a CD recording, and a concert featuring Mayo’s leading lights in Traditional music on Wednesday, January 31 at the Linenhall.

This is the story of two brothers, and is set in the summer of 1998 in an old outhouse where Jack (Lennie Grimes) has been living for nearly 40 years after falling out with his brother Peteen (Tony Varley) who remained in the family home.
