Othello at the Linenhall
Bruiser, one of Ireland’s most exciting theatre companies, presents a dazzling new production of Shakespeare’s Othello at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar on Wednesday, April 6 at 8pm. Bruiser Theatre Company explodes onto the stage with an electrifying contemporary take on Shakespeare’s most brutal and gripping thriller-tragedy of love, paranoia, jealousy and murder. This Bruiser adaptation is bareknuckle Shakespeare for today, in an adaptation by the award-winning Patrick J O’Reilly. None of Shakespeare’s script is modernised, yet those who might be fearful of the Bard will find this gritty, breathless drama both exhilarating and relevant! On previous form, this is one not to miss!

The Royal Theatre has announced that Daniel O’Donnell returns to Castlebar for one night on Saturday July 16. Donegal’s favourite son, Daniel O’Donnell, needs no introduction to audiences. His last appearance in Castlebar in July 2010 saw him sing a duet with Susan Boyle much to the delight of a surprised audience.
Daniel’s success has spread far beyond his native shores and he is a major figure in the music scene in Europe, North America, and the UK. In fact, such has been his impact in Britain that in 2002 he was awarded an honorary MBE for his services to the music industry. However Daniel himself has declared that the award which he holds dearest to his heart is being named as Donegal Person of the Year in 1989. He has had 20 UK Top 40 albums as well as 15 Top 40 singles and has sold 10 million albums worldwide.

2manyDJs are about to hit Castlebar
The legendary 2manyDJs have announced a special late night show at the Royal Theatre, Castlebar, on March 18. You could say that musicians are in general an exceedingly hard working lot, but few could ever hope to touch the heights of productivity that Stephen and David Dewaele, aka 2ManyDJS, aka Soulwax, do. In 2009 alone they criss-crossed the globe, playing the biggest festivals and stadiums under the guise of both 2ManyDJs and Soulwax. Festival-wise, they played prestigious slots to tens of thousands (indeed, most were headlining slots) at every summer festival worth its salt across the map, with the glorious roll-call including Glastonbury, Creamfields, Ibiza Rocks, and our very own Electric Picnic.
