Castlebar has been confirmed to host The World Fleadh 2011 with preparations well under way for a great weekend of music and craic both in venues within Castlebar and outdoor street entertainment. The festival committee has worked hard over the last couple of months to secure Castlebar as the host town with The Royal Theatre Castlebar as the venue for the headlining acts of the weekend. Set to play the Main Stage in The Royal Theatre is Dervish with special guest Andy Irvine on Friday August 26, Tommy Fleming on Saturday night August 27, and Clannad on Sunday August 28.
The weekend will be full of entertainment with a town trad trail featuring in bars down the main street in Castlebar. There will be street entertainment on Saturday with stands, pop up shops, food stalls and markets, and street entertainers with live music in The Mall. The festivities in Castlebar town over the full weekend are anticipated to bring over 5000 people to the town.

On Sunday November 13, legendary country singer Glenn Campbell will say his farewell to fans in Mayo when his good-bye tour stops off in the Royal Theatre. The Tour sees Glen supported by his two daughters and his son’s band, performing many of his greatest hits that include ‘Gentle on My Mind’, ‘By the Time I Get to Phoenix’, ‘Wichita Lineman’, ‘Galveston’, ‘Rhinestone Cowboy’ and ‘Southern Nights’.

Four greats of the Irish country dancing circuit are playing in The Royal Theatre Castlebar this summer as part of the Mid-Summer Dancing Nights. A host of the best loved Irish country music artists will take to the main stage for four great nights of dancing in The Royal Theatre this summer.
On Saturday July 2 Irish legendary showband Gina, Dale Haze and the Champions kick things off. On Friday July 8 Brendan Bowyer is in concert with dancing to Shaun O’Dowd afterwards, then on Saturday, July 9 Jimmy Buckley will show why he was awarded Best Artist of 2010. Finally, the big man comes back when Big Tom and the Mainliners take to the stage on Friday, July 29. Admission to the shows is €15 for both Gina Dale Haze and the Champions’ show and the Jimmy Buckley show, while admission costs €25 for the shows by Brendan Bowyer and Big Tom. Tickets for Big Tom goes on sale tomorrow, June 25 at the Royal Theatre box office.

After rocking Slane Castle to its foundations only a few weeks ago, the Kings of Leon will be taking to the silver screen in Castlebar on June 25. Mayo Movie World will show Talihina Sky: The Story of Kings of Leon, a unique insight into one of the biggest bands on the planet. Now a global phenomenon, the film charts their humble beginnings in the deep South, from struggling with the grasp of God and the pleasures of the Devil through alcohol, recreational drugs, and most importantly, the rock n' roll that would make them superstars, to signing a record deal and selling out stadiums worldwide. Featuring interviews with the full band – Caleb, Nathan, Jared, and Matthew Followill, plus exclusive footage of other family members and influential figures in the band's lives and career, this is the first time their tremendous journey has been documented. Talihina Sky is the definitive story of the Kings of Leon, told in their own words. The film will be followed by a live via satellite Q&A with the band from the Edinburgh film festival. All tickets bought for August 18 are valid for the new show on August 4 for the same seats purchased.
