Whipping Boy hit Castlebar next weekend

Finbar Hoban Proudly Presents... Whipping Boy live at Bar Ritz (Mulroys Bar ) Castlebar next Saturday night June 25 with support coming from David Hope and The Henchmen along with Vamos. Whipping Boy, the band behind one of the most underrated albums of all time Heartworm, have decided to take the show back on the road. Ferghal McGee and band are bringing their Heartworm album and more to the intimate surroundings of Bar Ritz. Expect to hear all the classics including ‘We Don’t Need Nobody Else’, ‘Twinkle’, and ‘When We Were Young’.

Now in the grips of a mid life crisis, they have found their rock ‘n’ roll animal again and feel the need to pursue the beast the length and breadth of old Ireland. From having their cassettes sold in Comet Records in the late eighties and signing to Columbia Records in the nineties, Whipping Boy have never made it easy for themselves, so if you like your rock ‘n’ roll a little raw and emotional and your beer on a mat take a trip down to your local venue at Bar Ritz in Castlebar next Saturday night and check out a band from the nineties still kicking cans.

Support on the night comes from David Hope and the Henchmen. This wild and woolly quartet have built up a mean reputation for their whiskey-sozzled brand of God-fearing roots which consists of dark, plaintive roots flecked with folk and heartfelt country, whispering and hollering. The band have just recently released their EP Hell or High Water!

Having only joined forces in the summer of 2009, David Hope and The Henchmen have very quickly managed to cause a stir with audiences all around Ireland in more than 150 gigs at a host of Ireland’s top venues. Vamos will also be performing next Saturday night at Bar Ritz. There is a limited number of tickets available for this show, tickets can be purchased from Mulroys Bar in Castlebar.
